The poem central to the image has an extract of the poem “Love Song To Richmond” and is as follows :

The castle walls take us for a walk amongst the treetops

Fearsomely towering above us

Glancing nervously down to the rushing river

Yet they shelter bright plumes of life clinging to the harshness

The walls still kindly holding seated nooks and crannies

For the people held by the admiring views

Of a hundred hidden places everyone loves to live by

Flows of people by the river

Children tobogganing the slopes of sunshine

Every man and his glad dog sharing the bright air

Back up the out of breath lanes

One way in the upward awkward cobbles

Back past the galleried lane

Out to the broad sweep of rumbling stones

The street fronted houses

With their alleyways of curiosity

And views of another life

Back home where I can see the castle

Through the trees with its cave door to the sky

Surrounding this town with its overarching love
