Fours Seasons – Beech Trees Card - Pack of 4
These cards are made of 240gm kraft brown paper and come with a kraft brown envelope – they are 6 x 6 inches in size
The design on the front came about by lucky accident – I was asked to attend an agricultural show and needed a shape to create sheep cards – I found a punch that is technically a cloud shape but then realised it also doubles up as a great shape to create trees! There is one each in the pack – Spring beech trees , Summer beech trees , Autumn beech trees and Winter beech trees
The poems on the back are matched to each season :
The contrasting delicacy
Of Spring
Battered by a March wind
From Winter
Yet within the promised warmth
Of summer
The sweeping brush wind
Hustling the clouds away
A moment of transcendance
A rainbow
With its subtle magic
A pale reflection
Of the verdant colour of life
Bursting forth
From the silence
The faded bluebells of late spring
And the lollipops of dandelion seeds
Give way
To every colour of green available
The birds shrieking
Songbirding
The exalted days
Of nest making
And parenting
The blackbirds guarded warning
Mixed with songs of love
Bringing forth new life
As sure as the trees
Are filled with summers light and warmth
The roadside queued
With trees
Fashioned in Autumn colours
The pine ground
Matching with burnt sienna decay
That which the evergreens cannot become
Even as temporarily their branches
Catch a drift of wind leaves falling
To their embrace
The sun signing
An evening accord
To soften her light
And make gentler scenes
For summer weary eyes
To touch the cold air
To swim through it nose first
To feel the numb fingers
To see the clouded breath
To encircle with woollen layers
To feel the warmth of pockets
To come inside to rapid heat
To preserve for a moment
The cold freshness of coats and scarves
To feel the joy of Winter
The sense of cold
The sense of approaching snow
With its peace and muffle
All raise my spirits
With familiarity
Bringing treasured memories
Of childhood’s moments of joy
As Christmas approaches
